About Us

We opened our doors in 1995 with a desire to provide personalised, high-quality care to the people of the inner western suburbs of Melbourne. We have patients from Yarraville, Kingsville, Seddon, Footscray, Spotswood, Newport, Williamstown, Altona, Port Melbourne and throughout the Western and North Western suburbs of Melbourne.

The Western Medical Centre is an independent association of General Practitioners.

We are an AGPAL accredited practice. All the General Practitioners who consult at The Western Medical Centre are vocationally registered and Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

The Western Medical Centre is located in Yarraville, an inner western suburb of Melbourne, on the corner of Somerville and Williamstown Rds.

The clinic runs by appointments Monday to Friday and as an emergency drop in clinic on Saturday.

After hours a locum service is available through DoctorDoctor. If you need to contact a doctor outside of our consulting hours, a locum doctor can visit you by phoning 132660.

The Western Medical Centre is a privately billing general practice.

We cater for patients of all ages and offer a wide range of GP services including shared care antenatal care and minor procedures.

There are currently 12 General Practitioners who consult at The Western Medical Centre with a number of special interests including family medicine, paediatrics, adolescent health, women’s health, preventative and men’s health, dermatology, travel health, musculoskeletal and sports medicine, chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, family planning, sexual health and shared care obstetrics.

Dr Gretel Heitbaum, Dr Khueenie Cheong, Dr Jessica Wrigley, Dr Katherine Ramsay and Dr Claire Mahoney are shared care obstetric affiliates with the Royal Women’s Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and Mercy Hospitals (Werribee and Heidelberg) providing antenatal care.

The Western Medical Centre has been accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as a training practice since 1997. We have been selected as a Training Provider of General Practice training, to provide formal training for fully qualified doctors choosing to follow a career in General Practice.
